Love this....

1. Art Of Good Marriage by Wilferd Arlan Peterson

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end
with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice,
but in the spirit of joy. It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

The Wedding program.....?

Our Pledge

We pledge to each other to be loving friends and partners in marriage.
To talk and to listen, to trust and appreciate one another;
to respect and cherish each other’s uniqueness; and to
support, comfort and strengthen each other through life’s joys and sorrows.
We promise to share hopes, thoughts and dreams as we build our lives together.
May our lives be ever intertwined, our love keeping us together.
We will build a home that is compassionate to all,
full of respect and honor for others and each other.
May our home be forever filled with peace, happiness and love.

Tables

Love these table top decorations-simple yet beautiful...just the way I like it!

All -over lighting

I do like this idea-the room can be transformed in the flick of a switch! Not that much decorating to do either, but I don't know if it's cheaper to do this, or just decorate with flowers!

A First-Dance Confetti Drop

Seems a little cheesey! But it is a different touch...hmmm

Vows

I saw this and I thought....WOW!

I never thought that I could meet someone like you.
You are my friend.
You are my smile.
You are my everything.
You are a breath-taking reflection
...of God's heart for me....
of how he pursued me...
and loved me even when I didn't love myself.
You held my hand in the darkness
and you pulled me out into the light.
I love you...

Man's part;
You are my light.
And it doesnt matter what happens
in this life, as long as you're with me.
When I look at you, I know that there's a God
and that he loved me so much
that he took the time to create you...just for me.
I love you....past my mind....beyond my heart....
I love you for my soul.
And that's the space where only you and God dwell.

Etiquette

Do you know the proper wedding etiquette? Read below to find out!                                                                                                                                    The proper etiquette for informing friends and guests about your registry is to ask your bridesmaids, mothers and relatives to spread the word.   Is is proper to include the phrase "Registered at__________" on your shower invitations and any communications regarding the wedding other than the wedding invitation.  It is NOT proper to include registry information with your wedding invitations.
The wedding ring must not be put above the engagement ring.  The wedding band is worn at the base of the finger.  On her wedding day a bride either leaves her engagement ring at home when she goes to the church or she wears it on her right hand.  Afterwards she wears it above her wedding ring.
The bride is on her fathers (or whoever escorts her) left arm coming down the aisle.  She does take her place at the grooms left during the ceremony, but when she comes back down the aisle she is then on her husbands right arm.  She always stands to his right at the reception.
It is the duty of the ushers to show all guests to their places.  An usher offers his right arm to each lady as she arrives, whether he knows her personally or not.  He asks of their preference of seating, the bride's side or the groom's side.   Members of the two families and a few most interested friends are seated in the front reserved pews.  All of the other guests are seated according to the general rule of first come first served.   It would be most helpful to have someone in the vestibule to identify family members and point these out to the ushers so that the proper seating is achieved.
The groom's mother is escorted up the aisle on the arm of an usher, usually the head usher, with the groom's father following behind.  They are seated in the second pew on the right. The first pew remains empty.  The bride's mother is then escorted to her seat. (second pew on the left).  No person should be seated after the entrance of the mother of the bride.
Whichever the direction of the receiving line, the bride always stands to her husband's right.  There is no rule as to whether the bride or groom is greeted first.
The maid of honor stands at the right of the bride.  (receiving line).  Usually the bridesmaids stand at the right of the maid of honor, but can be split with half standing to the left of the groom.
The Brides Parents Table.  The groom's mother sits on the right of the bride's father, and opposite them the groom's father next to the mother of the bride.  The other places at the table are occupied by distinguished guests including the clergyman who performed the ceremony and, if married, his wife.   He is seated at the left of the hostess and she at the bride's father's left.   Otherwise only especially intimate friends of the bride's parents are invited to this table.
If the reception is to be held away from the church, the best man sees the bride and groom into their vehicle.
The Second Marriage.  The fact that a bridegroom has been married previously has no bearing on the wedding preparations which may be made by his maiden bride.  More information and etiquette on this subject at Getting Remarried.Com
The Marriage of a Widow differs from that of a maid in that she cannot wear a bridal veil, orange blossoms, or a myrtle wreath, which are emblems of virginity; nor does she have bridesmaids, though she may have a maid or matron of honor.  She may if she chooses, wear all white.  When she becomes engaged, she should either remove or transfer her first wedding and engagement rings to the third finger of her right hand.  Both of these rings are removed before the second marriage.  In time, with no objection from her new husband, she may wear the first engagement ring  on her right hand.
The Marriage of a Divorcee.  Whether or not a divorcee may be married in her church depends upon the circumstances of her divorce and the approval of her clergyman.  She may not wear a typical white bridal dress and veil.  If she prefers to wear white, it should be a simple street length style.   Otherwise she chooses any style of dress she prefers.  Engraved invitations are not in good taste, handwritten notes are best.
The Double Wedding.  At a double wedding, the two bridegrooms follow the clergyman and stand side by side, each with his best man behind him;  the groom of the older sister nearer the aisle.  Then come the bridesmaids of the older sister followed by her maid of honor.  The older sister follows on her father's arm.  Then come the bridesmaids of the younger sister, her maid of honor and last the younger bride on the arm of a brother, uncle, or nearest male relative.  The first couple ascend the chancel steps and take their places at the left side side of the altar rail, leaving room at the right side for the younger bride and her bridegroom.  The father stands just below his oldest daughter.  The brother takes his place in the first pew.  The ceremony is a double one, read to both couples, with particular responses made twice.  The father gives both brides away, the older daughter first, then the youngest.  He then takes his place in the first pew beside his wife.  At the end of the ceremony, the older sister and her husband goes down the aisle first, then the younger couple.  The bridesmaids of the older are followed by the younger.
Seating parents at a double wedding.  One difficulty of a double wedding is the seating of the parents of the two bridegrooms, who must either share the first pew or draw lots for the occupation of first or second - which questions they must decide for themselves.  Occasionally the brides are cousins, in which case the front pew on the bride's side must be shared by both mothers, the older sister,or sister-in-law,being given the aisle seat.
More than One Maid and/or Matron of Honor. Some brides have two or three close friends or sisters and want to include all of them.   List them in your wedding program and the reason why you selected them.  The best man can escort both on the recessional, one on each arm.

Reception food

Never really thought about it but the time of day you had your reception, determined what will be served. I mean I knew there was going to be food there but I didn't know when you'd serve what. I just assumed that from 11-2 it would be lunch and after that it would be dinner, but check this:

  • Brunch (typically the most economical option): 10 am to 1 pm. Food served: breakfast. For desert, serve wedding cake.
  • Lunch: 1 pm to 4 pm. This can either be a sit down lunch or buffet style. Begin with Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Food served: chicken, beef, fajitas, salads, etc. Desert - wedding  cake.
  • Hors d'oeuvres: 3 pm to 7 pm. Foods served: fruit and cheese platters, stuffed mushrooms, quiches, chicken or beef skewers, shrimp cocktail, breads, etc. In using this option note on your invitation "please join us for hors d'oeuvres and cocktails" so that guests will know that no dinner will be served. Desert - wedding cake.
  • Classic dinner: 7 pm and onward. Begin with Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Classic sit-down dinner with soup or salad and main entree or buffet style (note: most think buffet receptions are less expensive, but it is not always so, because you have no control over how much your guests will eat). Desert - wedding  cake.
 Interesting....

Reception food

Never really thought about it but

Birdcage!!!!!

I'm feeling the birdcage idea. At lot less than the cathedral veil though because I'm feeling the whole lifting off the veil thing and I don't think it's possible or makes sense here!

Budget :(

So if there is anything I hate doing-it is talking about money! Alas it must be done right? Let look at the average amount of money people spend in the US on weddings. A grand total of 26, 984. Let's see if I can do better! :)

Let's see here now:
Reception venue = 7,375.86
Catering = 5,232.15-it is very possible the venue includes food or friends will cook.
Engagement ring = Not getting one
Reception band = Friend's DJ equipment
Photographer = 1,750 more or less really I'm trying to go as professional as possible!
Florist/Decor = 1,208.87 not even! Simple but stylish!
Videographer = 889.626 I think I'll just get a friend to do this-not really looking for professional here...
Church = 1,208.87 (this is crazy) so 50 pounds/hr for 4 hrs (max) 200 pounds
Rehersal dinner  = 685.290 more or less depending on guests
Wedding gown = 668.356 very likely to be in USD so less
Reception DJ = not necessary
Wedding transportation =405.644 more or less
Wedding cake = 100 if that!
Ceremony musician =Friends
Invitations = 213 if that
Favours =100 tops if I don't use the cake

With the exchange rate at 1.64 USD to the pound the total wedding cost amounts to: 11, 933....Still a lot more than I thought it would be. However at 19, 570 USD it's still a lot lower than the average American wedding which costs 26, 984. Changing the reception venue to somewhere that would charge possibly 5000 pounds would bring the whole proceedings to about 9, 000 pounds-which is still a pretty penny!

Hmm this wedding thing is not going to be cheap or easy at all!

Maybe a destination wedding would be cheaper ;)

Hated bridesmaids!

Only someone who hates their bridesmaid would put them in something like this I'm sure! Smh

It looks like they're wearing tents!!! Have mercy...

UPDATE!!!!!! I found more! It seems like everyone hates their bridesmaids!
What is this? The one below look worse though.

I saw this pic and I was already dreading what the bridesmaid would look like! I don't even wear stuff that looks like this around the house!
Ugh, dowdy!
I'm not saying make them stand-out or even cute but ....3 things-
1. You may have to be their bridesmaid later.
2.Their dress can be plain
3. And most importantly it takes away from your dress!

If everyone looks good then it's a nice wedding, it the bridesmaids are ugly, it's just a drag and cruelty to look through the pictures! Brides-be nice! :D

Simple

Sometimes I think about having a nice simple thing, you with close friends and family. Nice and intimate, but I just know that will not happen! Not with my family....One can dream though right?

Shot love 3

I don't know if it's because I'm British or what but I'm feeling this regal shot!

Bolero

I feel like even if I'm going to have a veil, I'll still feel naked walking around in a strapless dress. Something like this would be cute?

Shot love 2

I think these under the shot veils are awesome! I can see it already-the photographer is going to have a hard time with me-I think I'm going to be in front of the camera most of the time trying to get the perfect shot. Man I'm gonna be so bossy!!! Well, you pay them for service right? (",)

Flowers-Peonies

I'm into these flowers at the moment-not that nothing else is pretty, I'm just stuck on these!

Desert!

Hmm, just looking at that is making me hungry. Add some cheesecakes, banana cake and carrot cake then I'm sold! I am so having a dessert table. Who doesn't like desserts?! And to be honest if I do my wedding in England it's going to be the best part of the meal! Why? Let's face it. That's the part of the meal that they are really good at! ;)

What not to do!

Don't be yanking the bride! The dress is big enough and the day is stressful enough-she don't need to be manhandled! Seeing the picture below just irritated me man! Even if she's not actually being yanked (which it looks like she is) the camera man kmt him, the groom and the person who put the picture on the website need a smack!

This is how it's done! If you can't help to carry the dress then I don't think there should be a wedding! Everybody is so much happier when we help each other! :D

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!
Brides are still being yanked!!!
Ay no!!!!....

Shot love...

I love the shot to the left especially! Got to get me one of those!

Veil

Ok so I was going to rabbit on about the different types of veils and then give my favourites but frankly I don't think it's necessary. Let's just get to the good stuff- I LOVE the Cathedral veil! Why? Dunno really. I guess it's a part of my flamboyant nature and what not. This one thing some people may think is insignificant but it has dictated where the wedding will be and what the dress will look like. Just look at the following:

Amazing isn't it? I just love the one immediately above. This veil-even if the wedding is simple I'm having it. Yep I'm going to have my cake and eat it this day! Apart from this veil there is only one more I like-stay tuned to find out.

Writing your own vows...

Here are some questions for guidance...
- What did you think of your fiance when you first met?
- What made you make the decision to get married to him/her?
- What makes him/her desirable to you?
- What are some of your best memories together?
- What makes you sure that you can spend the rest of your life with him/her?
- What do you see for yourselves in the future?
- What promises can you make to him/her?
We also need to be specific, keep it short and sweet and show the sensitive side....that does not sound like me I'd rather just parrot after the preacher some pre-made vows. I do like the one that says "...with my body I thee worship..." I'm not sure but on some level I think it is more or less blasphemous-I'm not sure though..

...but I do express myself more when I write...we'll have to see, maybe I'll marry a romantic!

30 Cheeky First Dance Songs #20

Love the old feel of this song!

Must have...

...this shot! It's just so...playful *embrassed smiley* It says-"we are alone"...not really!

Shots I love...

There are probably going to be a lot of these so keep an eye out. They say a picture speaks a thousand words to here goes...

I love the pictures on the left they are just so....CUTE!

My latest obsession

Infinity pools! The first time I saw it was in Bad Boys II I think and it scared the daylights out of me when in the end the pool overflowed and they fell into the sea! (You had to have seen it! lol) While there is till some of this fear left I'm more intrigued! I Stumbledupon the Jade Mountan in St Lucia where every room has an infinity pool and at $950-$1200 I'm not sure how on it I am but man! It's beautiful! If I do stay though it is only going to be one night in the cheapest room because as we say in England-they are having a laugh with that price! And let's be honest all I'm really interested is that pool! Look....

Oh tell me now your not the least bit interested! The pool and the view-good heavens!
